Pandora dev board videos in glorious HD released
Pandora dev board videos in glorious HD released

EvilDragon, one of the Pandora team, created a video showing the Pandora devboard in action. It briefly shows the internals and then goes on to show the Pandora booting up and running software from the command prompt (the GUI is being worked on at the moment). Off the top of my head (its just gone midnight so brain dead) you can see a few emulators in action including the SNES, Picodrive and Final Burn. Check it out in either 1080i, 720p and 640x360 here. Let us know what you think about the progress of the Pandora.

Quake 2 Pandora port video
Quake 2 Pandora port video
| Posted By:

@ Jul 30 2008, 09:26 AM |
A new video of the Pandora devboard running a port of Quake 2 has been uploaded to youtube. The Info panel says:Pandora devboard @ 600MHz running some Quake2 demos. First demo shows some jump tricks, second one some heavy deahmatch action.
The game is rendering to 320x240 (scaled to fit screen) in pure software mode. There is no sound because the kernel I use doesn't have sound support. The port is quick and unoptimized. You can watch the video here.

2 player Pong v1.0
| Posted By:
Guyfawkes
@ Jul 28 2008, 12:49 PM |
2 player Pong by Dragula96 is I think the first release using the minimal BD-J SDK for the PS3. To install and play the game, simply copy the contents of the download onto your USB memory stick root folder and plug it into the PS3. On the XMB go to the Video section and then choose the AVCHD icon. You can download the release just below, thanks to PS3 Hax for the news. [UPDATE] You might need to choose the USB device on the Video section before choosing the AVCHD icon, I can also confirm it works on the latest firmware.

Minimal BD-J SDK for PS3 released
Minimal BD-J SDK for PS3 released
| Posted By:
Guyfawkes
@ Jul 28 2008, 12:45 PM |
Minimal BD-J SDK is a new Java based homebrew development kit for the PS3 which is run via the BD-J exploit, this exploit allows the user to run BluRay Disc Java applications. Here is a snippet of the readme:Included is everything you'll need to get started except for: 1. a working installation of JDK, the Java Development Kit (get that from Java SE Downloads - currently, the latest version is JDK 6 Update 7) 2. a copy of bdj.jar, the BD-J API. I can't provide this, since you need a license to use it; however, if you have a PC program capable of making or playing Blu-Ray discs - like Nero or PowerDVD - you can get this file from there. (In Nero 8, the file is located in C:\program Files\Common Files\Nero\NeroBLC\BDJ\jl ib .)
I don't have any real documentation on BD-J, though I'm sure you can find some on the HDCookBook website. In the 'docs' folder is some basic info on BD-J on a very high level. You can download the release just below.
