I need to work on a manual and update the website to document the game, but while I'm doing that I thought I'd post to all my Zodiac friends the link, so they can have a jump on it; bring a smile to an old face whose soldiered on all this time.

Download it on the website:
http://www.codejedi.com/battlejewels/

Shareware; purchase options to be posted soon, but it should let you play a few games (be sure to save your character!) as a teaser, and you can write to me (PM!) if you want a unlock code free before I post the registration system ;)

Firefly - Now Free

Posted By:  mentis @ 01 September 2007 - 01:04 PM
Zodiac News
Just yesterday I was looking at ZodiacResource, and found that Firefly is now available for free at http://www.zodiacres...t...r&t=Firefly

Not sure when this happened, but I suppose since they gave us Orbz for free, it makes sense that we should get Firefly as well. It's not an incredible game, and I'd say it is of lesser quality than Orbz. What it is, is a 3D interpretation of Pac-man. So if you like that game then Firefly will be right up your alley.

ZodMAME v1.2 released

Posted By:  fangorn @ 06 July 2007 - 01:29 PM
Zodiac News
Time to dust off the Tapwave compiler and work on ZodMAME again. I've fixed up a number of things that have bothered me for a while but the main addition is a builtin UDMH style memory loader that uses Storage Memory completely safely, unlike UDMH! I've added that because I love the CPS1 games and I won't put UDMH on my Tapwave as it can (and has) corrupted data. I'm still using the Tapwave a lot as a PDA and regularly play games on it.

After looking at that I got a bit carried away with other additions/fixes so there is quite a lot of new stuff in this release.

IMPORTANT This release has moved the SD directory from /PALM/Programs/PalmMAME/ to /PALM/Programs/ZodMAME/. Make sure you move/copy to this new directory your existing MAME v0.36 ROMS etc.

Download it from my Zodiacstuff web site

Updates
* Moved directory from /PALM/Programs/PalmMAME/ to /PALM/Programs/ZodMAME/ to avoid conflicts between the different MAME versions.
* Implemented Protected Feature Memory (Storage Memory) loading of GFX and SFX Roms for big games. UDMH is not required anymore. All writing to Feature Mem is done safely to avoid any corruption, unlike UDMH!
* Added Favourites Export/Import to Memopad
* Fixed CPS1 graphics transparency/masking issues.
* Put back CPS1 "ghouls" support, still crashes when exiting but no longer corrupts Tapwave as UDMH isn't used anymore.
* Fixed graphics drawing problems with JrPacman, Pac-Land, Dig Dug and related games.
* Added 11khz sound rate option (low, high) for lower sound quality but faster speed.
* Added colour fixes from Vilmos, fixes most games that had colour corruption before like "Ghosts'n Goblins", "Tapper", "Rampage" etc. Thanks to Vilmos.
* Fixed "Bosconian" graphics, thanks to Vilmos.
* Rewrote "Missile Command" graphics driver for much faster performance.
* Fixed loading of NVRAM config, Williams games now don't need starting twice.
* Added nice "GFX Decoding" wait message

PalmMAME 019 Released

Posted By:  Vilmos @ 22 June 2007 - 07:29 PM
Zodiac News
Another new version of PalmMAME which is a huge upgrade.

I've moved the base version of MAME from 0.36 to 0.37b6 which means dozens more games are available, lots of fixes for old games...

Download PalmMAME_019.zip

What's new in 19?
- Wow. Well I decided it was time to upgrade. So this is almost half-way to my goal of updating to the base MAME 0.37b16
- So all new working original games from 0.37b1 to 0.37b6 are supported unless they had known problems in which case they are disabled.
- This makes the file sizes significantly larger as there are updated cpu cores, some new ones and a ton of games.
- Hacked the CAVE games (Dangun Feveron, Esp Ra. De. and DoDonPachi) to work with palms limited memory. You must turn off the sound to make these games work and (you might want to sit down) YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST 60MEGS of free RAM to play them. They work pretty well on the Zodiac though, quite playable.
- Speedups will be added once the code base is stable again. Anyone wanting to help optimize the speed should contact me! Although nothing will be done until I hit the highest MAME version before the speed drops off.
- Artwork has been updated to support later versions of backgrounds.
- High scores now save and load properly (need a hiscore.dat in your palmmame dir)
- Smash TV and Total Carnage now work!

Tapwave 2.0 (ZodiacresourcE Re-release) Now Open!

Zodiac News
Hey guys I have somewhat of a Christmas present for you. I expected to be further along in the code by now, but I must say at times over the past month I have slacked off here and there. Either way I decided that it would be best to go ahead and release to you what I have created so far. You may see a few "Feature Coming Soon" screens but for the most part everything is usable at this point, even if the design is not the best :). I will be working more on design and the final features over the next week as well as adding more content. I thought that I would go ahead and open up the features to you that run off of the databases so you could help populate the Backgrounds sections and help me fill up my knowledge-base with comments suggestions and ratings. I have quite a bit of free time at the moment as I am on a break from my hectic schedule. I made this for you guys so any help or suggestions that you have would be very welcome. The email that these should be directed to are at the bottom of this post. I really have a lot more vision for this site, but I just didn't really get motivated again until about 3 days ago. Since then I have been working till about 4 each morning :). Anyways I hope you enjoy the site and now I will try to take the time to announce some of the new features as well as future ones.

Features:
-User Driven Backgrounds page
-Skins Page
-Advanced KnowledgeBase
-Level Packs page

Coming Soon:
-Reviews for each game
-Developer Zone
-News page (Had it working but it broke :-P)
-Overall Graphics Tuneup
-Many more support articles
-Many more titles and fixed links/better content
-An actual homepage (one that serves a purpose :-P)
-Install packs (I'll explain)

If you have any questions on any of the features or would like to post any browser compatibility issues go ahead :)

Zodiac 2 + loads more for sale

Posted By:  Guyfawkes @ 28 November 2006 - 02:21 PM
Zodiac News
This Zodiac for sale was originally my second Zodiac to be used if my first broke, but a few years down the line my first is still working well so I do not have a need for it.

It is a Zodiac 2 in near pristine condition, it has only been opened to check it was working, so its had around 10 minutes usage, the shipping screen protector is still on the screen. The user manual/cd seal is unbroken, headphones and wrist strap are unused. I tested the battery life and it appears to be very good. There are no dead pixels or damage to the Zodiac screen.

Included in the auction are Zodiac Cradle, Zodiac bungee cord stylus, 6x Zodiac boxed games, Brando Zodiac Leather Case and a Veo Traveller Photo Camera. Check out the full details here.
