quick question, has anyone tried these couple of neo titles, baseball stars 2, spinmaster, or blues journey/raguy? These games would be enough for me to get a zodiac now. thank you for your time.

blues journey works in my test release (out soon, just working on getting Art of Fighting working), not sure about alpha 010 though. Baseball stars 2 and pro also works. I haven't tried spinmaster yet.

thank you for such a quick reply. looks like I will be buying a zodiac 2 when I get paid next week. I dont mind if these games dont have sound to begin with, hopefully eventually these will run almost full speed with sound. :D

Here's a real test for you:

Download PMame NeoGeo Module (011 rc4)

help test this out. I've gotten lots of NeoGeo games to work, but I keep getting crashes on exit. See how this goes.

This does NOT have DAA and the screen isn't centered. Sorry, I have to quit but I'll fix the details tomorrow or the day after and do a full update with a final 011.

Oops almost forgot: Don't forget to Re-Search for ROM modules as it has changed from before.

Also you will need the full PMame package, this is just a replacement for ModuleA (which is all the NeoGeo)

Cool stuff :)

Quick results - Just tested some Roms I figured would work on the ol Z1...

All tested with no sound (at work, not supposed to be playing Neo Geo!)

Z1, UDMH, 8.2MB Storage RAM free.

Andro Dunos - Fails to load (bad rom?)
Double Dragon - Too big :(
Fatal Fury - Works!
Ghost Pilots - Works!
Magical Drop 3 - Too big :(
Magician Lord - Works!
Mutation Nation - Works!
Neo Mr Do! - Works!
Neo Drift Out - Too big :(
Ninja Commando - Works!

Most of these which work, work rather well at Auto Frameskip. You do get SNES style slowdown when it gets busy mind! All playable though, which is pretty amazing bearing in mind that Mame is not the quickest at emulating NeoGeo on the PC...!

Where things are too big, I reckon it is just down to how much RAM I have free, others might have more luck.

Oh and on a seperate note, when I try and take a screengrab of Neo Geo stuff it crashes. One for the buglist then :P

Hopefully if DrMd goes open source we might be able to get some speed up using the improved 68k core.
But so far great work. I'm still hoping we can get neogeo up to full speed eventually. If the DC can do it so can the Z (i hope)

Yeah, it would be great to see Dave's Cyclone used for improved NeoGeo speed. Cyclone is already open source, always was - I wonder if it can be incorporated into PMAME?

It may work but you have to write the interface to MAME for it. I haven't had the time to try that.

Apparently reesys done some speedy z80 emulation to so that could also be used to speed sound up a bit. Just wondering Vilmos have you looked at the sources for the neogeo emulators for the Dreamcast?
There may be some code you can use as the dc is 200mhz and the dc runs neogeo at full speed.

Cyclone isn't GPL, and isn't MAME license; its open source, but for instance.. I'm not really allowed to use it with CaSTaway since CaSTaway is GPL'd. MAME is under MAME license, so also can't use Cyclone. I'm sure Dave might let us use it under another license, but you'd have to ask.. I asked a couple times (in amongst other stuff) and didn't get as direct comment about it so didn't worry about it. One of these days I'm going to finish mwerging it into CaSTaway and then I'll have to find out before release :P

It will just emulate the console/arcade side of things as those are the drives used in mame.
The handheld is a seperate console all togther!

Metal Slug games won't load yet, not enough memory even with UDMH. Some of the high memory games are disabled but I didn't get all of them done yet.
